Principal Electrical Engineer – Manchester
Up to £65,000 + Benefits


Our client’s brand-new Manchester office is a vibrant, modern space located on Deansgate, right in the heart of the city, close to Exchange Square, the Northern Quarter, and The Arndale. They are building their Electrical Engineering team and are looking for a driven and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join them.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Director, you will be the Lead Consultant on projects, providing Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) input at key stages and ensuring that all M&E requirements are communicated and delivered effectively. You will also oversee Electrical Services design quality, support junior engineers in their professional development, and maintain a high-level understanding of major MEP projects to offer guidance and assistance when needed.


Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Lead and manage the delivery of Electrical Services design.
  • Plan, program, and ensure detailed design output meets quality standards.
  • Oversee the post-contract stage of projects, monitoring installations against design specs.
  • Assist in cost control and final account settlement by offering technical advice.
  • Ensure project closure and resolution of defects.
  • Establish project briefs, fees, and timescales, ensuring junior staff are informed.
  • Prepare electrical scheme design proposals and ensure timely project delivery.

About You:
 
  • Degree-qualified, ideally working towards chartered status.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong record in project management and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, confident in client-facing situations.
  • Capable of working independently to solve engineering and management challenges.
  • Hold a valid UK driving license (preferred) and be prepared to travel to meetings and projects as required, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Proficient in design software such as CAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Hevacomp.
